Be It a Sony Camera or Any Other, Look Beyond the Name
By Jenny Fernandez

A Digicam or a digital camera is a device that is capable of taking still photograph or video, or in many cases both, by employing the digital technology to record images through an electronic image sensor. Most, if not all, cameras which are available at the market place are digital. Digital cameras manufactured by major companies have the innate capability to do things which a conventional film camera is unable to do. Chief among such functions is the ability to display the image on the screen moments after it has been recorded.

Other functions include storing of large numbers of images on a small silicon chip called the memory device, and deleting unwanted images to make way for new images. These days most of the compact cameras are able to record moving video as well as still photos including sound. A few of these cameras have some basic editing capabilities as well such as cropping and stitching of pictures. A few high-end models have a built-in GPS receiver which helps in producing photographs which are Geo-tagged.

Bridge cameras

Bridge cameras are those cameras which are on the higher pedestal in the hierarchy of digital cameras that ergonomically and physically looks like the DSLRs, and have certain advanced features like them. Bridge cameras share the use of a small sensor and a fixed lens with the compact cameras. Similar to the compact cameras, most of the bridge cameras use live preview of the photograph to frame them. The autofocus employed by such cameras uses contrast-detect mechanism very much like the compact. But quite a few of these cameras have manual focus mode, in various cases they focus through a separate focus ring, in order to have a better control.

Due to the unconventional mix and match of a small sensor with its dwarfing physical size, most of such cameras have lenses which are highly specified and have fast aperture with a large zoom span. This is in lieu to compensate for the innate incapability to change lenses. In order to compensate for the lack of better sensitivity due to their small sensors, most of the bridge cameras have an image stabilizer system imbibed in the scheme of things so that it is able to withstand longer exposures. Bridge digital cameras manufactured by Sony camera are a group of such devices which are quite a rage among the photographer’s fraternity.

Digital cameras are more than picture click devices. The improvements in application technology have helped such cameras to be incorporated in a wide range of devices such as mobile phones, PDAs and even in vehicles. Astronomical devices like the Hubble space telescope are nothing but highly specialized Digicams.

Jenny Fernandez is a passionate photographer. Working for years, she has gained experience as to which cameras deliver best performance while clicking pictures. According to her, Sony Camera is the stylish and must buy camera. She highly recommends, Zoomin to buy camera online.
