Sony has always been a leader in the P&S camera arena, made all better since they added the SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards to their memory card choices.

I am sure that you will love your new camera.

Remember to buy SD, SDHC or SDXC media for your new camera so if you ever change camera brands, you will have the right memory cards already in your "pocket"

Most of the other camera companies have gone with the ‘industrial look’ with their P&S everythingproof cameras. It could be so that users that have both a conventional P&S camera and ‘proof’ camera will not accidentally pick up the wrong one and go swimming

Yes, the macro is a lens property. Buy a separate macro lens.

Both cameras are great. They are basically the same. The most striking difference is not in the camera. It’s aftersales service. Sony is excellent and hard to beat. Canon? It’s something you wish for.

Be careful of other batteries. Some are very inferior, or not the right voltage. for your camera. I would rather get the battery that is made for my camera and be safe, than to get one that could ruin my camera.
